Steam Get First Home Win
The Cincinnati Steam
improved their record to 2-1 after a 3-1 win over the Anderson Servants
on Sunday. The Steam rallied late to plate 2 runners in the eighth
inning to secure the victory. In front of a crowd of about 450, fans saw
the first win at Western Hills for Cincinnati this season.
The game began strong
behind pitcher Billy Kitchen (Indiana University/Miamisburg) who only
allowed one hit through four innings and one base runner in three. Billy
O’Conner (Indiana University/Cincinnati Elder) was on his toes the
entire game throwing out Alex Hentz as he tried to steal second in the
second. Kitchen remained in the game for five innings allowing only two
hits and striking out one. Steve Brown (Xavier University/LaSalle)
attempted to put the Steam on the board in the fifth but was thrown out
at home after a grounder to the second-basemen. Robert Sabo (Kent State
University/Middletown) replaced Kitchen and allowed one unearned run
after hitting Rashard Graves with the bases loaded. Sabo ended the
inning with a strikeout. Danny Rosenbaum (Indiana University/Loveland)
received the win after pitching two scoreless innings in the seventh and
eighth and striking out one. In the eighth, Steve Brown (Xavier
University/LaSalle) hit a single into left field scoring two runs. Chase
Stewart (Miami University/Edgewood) finished the game by retiring three
consecutive batters.
