High Scoring Leads Steam to Third Straight Win
Steam Bats Overpower Loco

Zach Hurley launched a home run in the sixth inning as the Steam went on to beat the Lima Locos 8-6. The Steam scored four runs in the fourth inning and followed with a 2 run sixth to give Robb Thompson (University of Cincinnati) the win. The Steam are now 3-1 with a 3-game winning streak.

Michael Lucas (Xavier University) started the game with two strikeouts but the Locos’ scoring opened up in the second with a Steve Brown (Xavier University) error and a sacrifice fly by Eric Severson. Nate Fields (Ball State University) ended the inning with a rifle from left field to throw out the runner at home plate. The Locos put up three runs in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 5-0. Lucas was relieved in the fourth after giving up four runs with 3 strikeouts by Reece Asbury (Miami University). The Steam followed the top of the inning with four singles, a walked batter, and a hit-by-pitch cutting the lead to 5-4. Tom Nurre’s (Miami University) base hit in the fifth tied up the game leading to Hurley’s (Ohio State University) home run in the sixth giving the Steam a 7-5 lead. Nate McKeon (University of Toledo) finished off the Steam scoring knocking in a run during the seventh to finish the Steam’s scoring. Chase Stewart (Miami University) closed the game earning his second save of the season.

The Steam is on the road for two game but return home on Saturday for a double-header against Lake Erie. Game time is set for 4:05 PM. The Steam plays again on Sunday at 2:05 PM.
