The Cincinnati Steam
started the home season off right, routing the
Anderson Servants, scoring 18 unanswered runs
after falling behind 1-0 in the top of the 1st,
winning 18-1. to get the team to .500 in their
young season at 2-2. The Steam capitalized on
poor Anderson pitching and fielding, with 13
walks and 3 errors, pounding out 17 hits. The
Steam pitching was far superior, with 12
strikeouts between David Middendorf (3.0 IP, 1
ER, 5 K), Steven Davis (3.0 IP, 4 K), Joel Ernst
(2.0 IP, 1 K) and Steve Matre (1.0 IP, 2 K).
Offensively, the Steam came out quick,
capitalizing on an early Anderson error and
scoring three runs in the first. The game was
never in doubt after that, as the Steam scored
runs in five of the nine innings, including a
nine-run outburst in the bottom of the seventh
to put the game undoubtedly out of question.
Steve Brown led the attack for the Steam, going
3-3 from the plate with 3 RBI.
Next for the Steam is a two-game road trip
against Licking County and Grand Lake before
returning home Friday night to face the Delaware
Cows at 7:05.
