Cincinnati -
The Cincinnati Steam completed the season sweep
of Delaware today by defeating the Cows 7-3 in
game one and 6-2 in the second game of the
doubleheader played at Xavier University’s
Hayden Field.

Steam remained in first place in the Great Lakes
Summer Collegiate League (GLSCL) raising their
record to 11-4 on the season heading into
tomorrow’s doubleheader at the University of
Toledo against the Lake Erie Monarchs who are
fresh off of their pre-season Alaskan Trip.
The Steam
won game one by the score of 7-3 off the
strength of Kyle Pfirrman’s, Badin High School
and UNC-Charlotte complete game
performance. Kyle gave up 3 hits while striking
out 4. Kyle is now 2-1 on the
season. Offensively for the Steam, Tony Kennedy,
3rd Baseman, The Ohio State
University, went 3-4 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI’s and
a run scored. In addition, Rick Betsch,
Outfielder, LaSalle High School and Butler
University, went 2-3 with a run scored and Kory
Lonergan, Northern Kentucky University, went 1-3
with 3 RBI’s.
The Steam
won game two by the score of 6-2. Matt Marksbury,
Northern Kentucky University, went 6 innings
giving up only 3 hits and 1 run while striking
out 4 Cows. Matt extends his record to
2-0. Leading the Steam attack was Josh Harrison,
Princeton High School and University of
Cincinnati, going 2-2 with 2 runs scored. Tony
Kennedy, went 2-2 with 1 RBI, Kory Lonergan, 1-4
with 2 RBI’s and Drew Roberts 1-2, an RBI and a
run scored.
Next home
game for the Steam will be Tuesday June 27th,
7:05pm at Western Hills High School. This game
will be a rematch of Friday’s contest with the
second place Lima Locos. The Locos defeated the
Steam 5-2. In addition, Tuesday night will be
Knothole Night. Knothole players wearing their
team’s hat will be able to get into the game for
$1.00. Also, the Steam will be having Frisbee
giveaway, as well as, The Frisbee Dog will
perform.
