Servants Win in a Sluggfest over the Steam

Anderson, IN –  The Anderson Servants outlasted the Cincinnati Steam 10-7 Wednesday night at Memorial Field in Anderson, Indiana.  With the loss the Steam ended their winning streak at eight games.  Cincinnati remains in first a game up on Southern Ohio and Stark County.

The Servants took the early lead scoring two in the 2nd and two more in the 3rd off a monsterous shot to dead center off the bat of Riley Diaz.  With the Servants up 4-0 after 3, the Steam rallied to tie the score by putting a four spot on the board in the fourth inning.

The tie didn’t last very long for the Steam, when in the bottom of the fourth after a lead off ground out, Zach Jacob walked and Anthony Lymberopoulos hit a towering blast to left center to make it a 6-4 Servants lead.

The Steam cut the lead to 6-5 by scoring once in the top of the fifth off a Jon Edgington double, a passed ball and a sacrifice fly by Brad Gschwind scoring Edgington.  The Servants got that run back off a two out error and a double by Tony Bruns.  With a 7-5 lead going into the top of the 6th the Steam knotted it back up at 7 with a suicide squeeze rbi by Billy O’Conner and a sacrifice fly rbi by Ryan Bellamy.

The bottom of the sixth proved to be the decisive end to the evening for the Steam giving up three runs off reliever Kurt Smith (0-1) as the Servants took a 10-7 lead and never looked back.  The loss drops the Steam to 8-3 and raises the Servants record to 5-7 on the season.

Next up for the Steam is a trip to Celina, Ohio Thursday night, to face the Grand Lake Mariners at Westview Park 7:15pm.
