Billy O'Conner went 2-4 with 2 RBI's

OH MY!  O'Conner!
O'Conner's Two Out Triple Wins It
Cincinnati, OH. - A big hit in the eighth and a spectacular catch in the ninth sealed the game for the Steam.  After winning 3 out of 4 over the weekend the Steam were a bit flat early and blew multiple opportunities to score, however Billy O'Conner took advantage of the game winning opportunity and Josh Harrison followed his lead on defense as the Steam escaped with a 3-2 win.

The Steam jumped out on top early when Tony Kennedy's two out single scored Josh Harrison in the first.  The Locos answered in the third when they touched up starter Pat Berndsen for two runs on three hits.  Berndsen went seven strong innings scattering 6 hits while striking out 4.

The Steam then squandered scoring opportunities in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings while stranding nine base runners.  Berndsen then gave way to Dan Weiss who pitched a perfect eighth striking out two.  That set the stage for the heroes of the night, O'Conner and Harrison.

After Brandon Besl flied to center, and Tony Kennedy grounded out, Adam Pasono drew a walk.  Drew Roberts then singled to left moving Pasono over to second. "In that situation you're just looking for something to put in play" O'Conner said after the game.  He did just that.  Drilling a 1-1 pitch into the right center field gap for a base clearing triple and a 3-2 lead.

Matt Winterhalter took the mound in the ninth in a quest for his fourth save of the season.  Thanks to Harrison he would get it.  The first batter he faced, DH Zachary Upton hit a towering drive to deep right.  Harrison tracked it to the wall, and went high into the air against the wall for the catch robbing Upton of extra bases and a chance to tie the game.

The win improves the Steam’s record to 13-5 while the loss dropped Lima’s record to 8-5. The next game for the Steam is tonight against the Grand Lake Mariners at Xavier University. The game will start at 6:05 pm.
