Records: Cincinnati Steam (17-12)
Columbus All Americans (20-11)
After a
scoreless first, the Steam busted through in the top of
the 2nd with a lead off single to left by
Zach Hurley followed by a blast over the 370 mark in
left center field by Brandon Besl to put Cincinnati
ahead 2-0.
Columbus plated one in the bottom half of the 2nd
to cut into the lead. After a lead off walk by Justin
Rogers, he stole second and advanced to third on a laser
basehit to right by Chris Klimko. Rogers took home on a
wildpitch by Charlie Leesman to make it 2-1.
Columbus tied the game in the bottom
of the 6th after a
basehit by Justin Rogers, he moved
to second on a basehit by Chris
Klimko and scored on an rbi basehit
by Dean Anna.
All Americans
starter Brad Stillings went six
innings striking out 8. Steam
starter Charlie Leesman went six
striking out 5.
Columbus
threatened in the bottom of the 8th
off reliever Darren Sizemore with a
lead off single by Hayden Johnston,
was sacrificed to second and
stranded there to end the inning.
Cincinnati
started the top of the 9th
the same way Colubus started the
bottom of the 8th. The
Steam started with a lead off double
by Tommy Nurre and was pinch run for
by Rick Betsch. Betsch was balked
over to 3rd base by All
American Reliever Tyler Smith. With
that balk and an 0-1 count on Nate
McKeon, Smith was replaced by Matt
Shoemaker. Shoemaker got McKeon
looking for the first out of the
inning. Steve Brown grounded
out to a drawn in second baseman
holding the runner at third with two
out. Then Nate Fields walked to put
runners at first and third. Fields
stole second to take away the force
but Fields and Betsch were stranded
when Tony Kennedy struck out looking
to end the top of the 9th.
In the bottom of the 9th
All American pinch hitter Zach
Gentile lead off with a double to
left center. Jeff Davis moved
Gentile over to third with a
sacrifice bunt. Gentile scored on
a game winning single to left by
Michael Sims.
