Xenia - In the end, the Steam overcame three errors to down the Copperheads behind timely play at the plate, on the mound and in the field. The Steam defeated the #5 seed to win the championship for the second consecutive year, as they defeated the fifth-seeded Columbus All-Americans for the victory last season. The Steam ended the playoffs with a 3-1 record, ending their season with a final record of 26-13. More

Strausborger Leads Steam to Sweep of Copperheads

wo Steam players reached milestones in Cincinnati’s 6-2 game one victory over Southern Ohio on Monday at Western Hills High School, as Brian Sand (Cincinnati) tied the Steam’s all-time wins record and Ryan Strausborger (Indiana State) became the Steam’s all-time hits leader

 

Steam Pound Lake Erie 14-6 in Game Two to Earn Doubleheader Split
Lake Erie scored twice in the final two innings to break a 3-3 tie and defeat the Steam 5-4 in the first game of a Sunday afternoon doubleheader. The Steam pounded the Monarchs 14-6 in the second game on the strength of an eight-run seventh inning.

  Cincinnati drops Hamilton, 5-3
The Steam completed a season sweep of Hamilton Friday night at Western Hills High School, shutting out the Joes 5-0 behind a 6.0-inning, two-hit performance from ace Ian Kadish (Marshall).

  Rallying Steam Sweep Stark County
A two-run home run by Travis Shaw (Kent State) capped off a five-run fifth inning for the Steam, who went on to defeat the Stark County Terriers 6-2 in the first game of a doubleheader.

Imagine Christmas without Santa Claus, Notre Dame without the Golden Dome, the Lynwood County Jail without Paris Hilton, or in this case baseball without an All-Star game.  The All-Star game is THAT important to baseball, so this year the Great Lakes Collegiate Summer League moved the mid-summer classic to Cincinnati.
