The 2009 Road to Omaha began this past weekend with 64 teams being split into 16 sites with four schools heading to each location. The NCAA Regionals had a smattering of current and former Cincinnati Steam players representing their College and Universities. Five schools with 18 current and former players were vying for a trip to the super regional next weekend with hopes of making Omaha, the site of the College World Series. Of the five schools, Xavier University (11 players) was the best represented, followed by Kent State (3 players), then Ohio State University (2 players) and Indiana University (1 player) and Wright State University (1 player) rounded out the representation of Steam players. As the Steam finished up their 3rd season back in 2008, they look to hit the ground running on the 12th of June as they return to the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League to defend its Regular Season and Tournament Championship.
