Pitching Coach Signs to Pitch in the Atlantic League
Former Toronto Blue Jay and New York Yankee product
Scott Wiggins will be making his return tomorrow night
when the Somerset Patriots play host to the Newark
Bears.
Wiggins, most recently
served the last two seasons as the pitching coach for
the Cincinnati Steam, a member of the Great Lakes Summer
Collegiate League. Scott spent the summer along with
his coaching duties, working out with the team and
throwing simulated games to attempt to make a comeback
this fall in hopes of getting the opportunity to go to
spring training. Scott has taken the last few seasons
off to tend to family business but contimplated a return
very soon. The offer to go to the Atlantic League came
very quickly and Scott took the opportunity that was
given to him.
The Atlantic League is an
independent professional baseball league, equivilant to
Triple-A. Former major leaguers like Pete Rose Jr.,
Danny Graves, Carl Everett and others alike are
currently playing for teams within the league.
